What is Baby Sign
Baby Sign is an easy-to-learn programme using every day gestures or ‘signs’ to help you communicate with your hearing baby or toddler, before they can speak words or sentences.
It takes time for the brain and vocal cords to mature and synchronise to develop speech. In the meantime, so much has been missed: what your baby can see, what they want and what they want you to acknowledge. Baby Signing is not meant to replace speech but to enhance it; babies will naturally drop signs as they learn to talk. If that is not reason enough to learn Baby Sign then just come along to enjoy quality time with your baby or toddler and learn the signs through songs, stories, music, fun and play.
Baby Signing is becoming ever increasingly popular and well known as a natural and obvious way to assist verbal communication – especially following the film ‘Meet the Fockers’. Baby Signing simply takes the natural concept of gesture - clapping hands, pointing, waving etc - a step further.
