Baby Sign has created a lovely bond between me and Kathryn. It's wonderful to know what she is trying to tell me. I have realised her love for dogs, planes and plants....

Baby Sign and Reading
Reading books with your baby is a great way to introduce babies to reading and enjoying the pleasure that books can bring. You can learn signs that will allow you to interact with your baby, enabling your baby to talk to you about what they see, which is the key to successful signing. Discover books that offer different textures, have pop-ups, or have lifting flaps. Use familiar objects such as animals, or day to day events.
Be prepared for repetition as this is what babies and toddlers love, repetition, repetition. Although you may be bored of it they will appreciate it every time you read to them. So try to keep enthused about it each time, and your reward will be when their eyes light up each time you do! During class we explore books and share different stories – so just watch them take it all in. Go down to your local library and see what books they have.
